Journalism and Mass Communication major Elianna Novitch '20 talks about her first professional position following graduation and how her journalism degree, role at the Daily Iowan, and the nonprofit certificate prepared her for her first job. As the communications manager at Four Oaks, Elianna is responsible for coordinating and managing internal and external communications for the organization. This includes overseeing public relations and marketing efforts as well as assisting with crisis communication. She is also responsible for graphic design, social media management, email marketing, website management, and storytelling. Elianna provides advice to students about the job search process, suggestions for a healthy work-life balance, and why it's important to say yes to opportunities during their academic career.

Hannah graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in May 2021 with a BA in Recreation, Tourism, and Nonprofit Leadership, Nonprofit Management. She also minored in International Affairs, Political Science, and Government. Hannah talked about her experience with nonprofit activities and leadership throughout college and how she launched her career as the new executive director of the Waterloo Schools Foundation.
